Maggie Mae is an Award-Winning Philadelphia-based artist blending gritty rock & roll, funky grooves, and soul-drenched vocals into a sound that’s entirely her own. With commanding stage presence and songs that move both hearts and bodies, she’s been described by WXPN’s John Vettese as “poppy, polished, talented, & promising.” Raised in a musical home where bluegrass and folk traditions met classic rock icons like Led Zeppelin and Bonnie Raitt, Maggie taught herself to play nearly any stringed instrument she could get her hands on. Formally trained in music performance with a focus on classical guitar, she deepened her love for funk, jazz, and world music, shaping the groove-forward, genre-blending sound she brings to the stage today.
Onstage, Maggie leads a rotating lineup of Philly’s finest players, delivering high-energy, emotionally resonant sets that leave lasting impressions. She’s been praised for “effortlessly blending genres,” her band’s “tight musicianship,” and their “innovative covers” (The Jamwich, 2019). Maggie Mae, whose strengths include “knowing how to blend an acoustic feeling with a big band sound” (Philly Live, 2020), has performed at World Cafe Live, Ardmore Music Hall, the Ladybug Music Festival, and the Philadelphia Folk Festival, sharing bills with Soulive, The Heavy Pets, Dawg Yawp, Lohai, Danielle Nicole, Lee Rocker of the Stray Cats, and more. After releasing her debut single “Hometown” in 2020, she successfully crowdfunded $12,000 to bring her first full-length album to life. The result, Welcome to the Party!, dropped in May 2025, spotlighting 15 years of songwriting across standout tracks like “Ghost,” “Bridge of Avignon” (WXPN’s Local Pick of the Day), “CYHMN,” and “Clockwork.” Maggie has since won a Homey Award for ‘Best Pop Song’ (Ghost), and multiple Elephant Talk Indie Awards.
With raw honesty, irresistible grooves, and a fearless genre-crossing spirit, Maggie Mae is carving out her space in the indie funk-rock scene and turning heads along the way.
